Row, Row, Rowing Our Way to Absolute Gains

If you come to Humble Beast CrossFit on Mondays, you are no stranger to our conditioning approach. In true CrossFit fashion, we love the constantly varied approach and try to reflect that with the fact that we don’t just use one cardio driven machine. However, in true Humble Beast CrossFit fashion, we believe in absolute, not general gains. We do so by isolating a specific skill and bettering it. Thus, you will absolutely get better, versus generally working and hoping for results.

In the month of February, we want to focus on absolutely improving the understanding of the Row/ERG; application of competence form. Over the course of the next four weeks, we will be hammering rowing technique and form. This will not dramatically change the parameters of Mondays, however you will notice much more cardio emphasis on rowing (for this month). To adjust, we will have one instead of two strength elements, and a portion of class related to rowing technique, followed by a rowing-biased WOD.

Here is a little teaser of what to expect:

Week 1: Stoke order, vocab (sounding like a hipster rower), and set-up.

Week 2: Ratio and more vocab!

Week 3: Power and application.

Week 4: Accumulation and application.

We're not expecting you to become the next national ERG champion, but we are hoping to come out of this month with better overall form, function, and application. If you miss a class, ask other members to fill you in and likewise, if you see someone who missed a class, help them out! We will go over the instructions on Mondays during class, so be on time.
