WHAT IS HUMBLE BEAST CROSSFIT?
Strength: Measure of lactic threshold parameters across variable domains of volume and intensity. Conditioning: Ability to manipulate the maximal oxygen consumption during aerobic activity. CrossFit: Constantly varied, functional movement, with relative intensity. Respectively, we incorporate these elements to create a holistic balance of functional fitness. Our strength program is a periodized approach with variable changes depending on the athletes work capacity. All movements are taught with structural specific detail and explained with applicable anatomical articulation. Our conditioning regimen is appropriately applied to generate VO2max increases while complementing our structured strength program. These metabolic pathways work together to form the Humble Beast CrossFit program methodology. All intensities from each application are scalable and subjected to our professionally trained coaches discretion.
WHAT IS THE HUMBLE BEGINNINGS CLASS AND IS IT MANDATORY?
The Humble Beginnings class is a foundational course aimed to prepare all new members for Humble Beast CrossFit. It is a 90-minute class that address the complex articulation of movements that are implemented on a reoccurring basis. Proper movement demonstration and individual assessments are made to prepare new members to move appropriately and safely in relation to their workouts. The class concludes with a metabolic threshold workout that will highlight the principles discussed during the class. This class is highly recommended for those interested in starting a Humble Beast CrossFit membership.
WHAT IS METABOLIC CONDITIONING?
Metabolic conditioning is the process of training your metabolic systems to function more efficiently. We separate the systems in order to train them absolutely and then we strategically synchronize them later in the program, as part of a periodized approach.
WILL I BENEFIT IF I DON’T ATTEND EVERYDAY?
Yes. Although daily attendance is encouraged, the program is designed to maximize metabolic capacities on a daily basis. The daily program is scalable based on each athlete's work capacity based on coach's discretion.
WHY DON’T YOU POST YOUR WODS?
Our program is specifically designed to work for our members who attend frequently. This is explained in great detail during the introductory Humble Beginnings class. We do not post our WODs because they are not derived daily, but rather in a macro program thus bearing no significance to a daily agenda. WHY IS SO MUCH OF THE CLASS SKILL RELATED?
In accordance to the principles of mechanical force production, maximal force production cannot occur safely unless the system operates autonomically. Otherwise, the system is at a respectively increased risk of injury as resistance increases and form does not. We teach all of our technical lifts with great detail and progression. Once the athlete has achieved fluent articulation of a skill, they are set into a specified strength template.
DO YOU PROGRAM A LOT OF HERO/BENCHMARK WODS?
No, hero WODs and benchmark WODs serve a specific purpose and daily regimentation is not a practical purpose. This is a simple conclusion made from formulation Work Capacity/Power output via the [(Force)(Distance)]/(time) equation.
HOW DO YOU SCALE AMONGST THE MEMBERS?
Our coaches are trained to recognize individual levels of work capacity and physical ability. They are highly experienced in assessing and applying individualized scaling. Safety is our utmost priority.
DO YOU OFFER NUTRITIONAL CONSULTATION?
Yes. We offer a holistic approach to understanding the physiology behind consumption, production, and outcome. Our members can schedule one-on-one consultations with Lindsay at LJ@humblebeastcrossfit.com
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TAKING YOGA AT HUMBLE BEAST CROSSFIT?
Yoga begins promptly at 10am sharp. Once the practice has started, the door will be locked and absolutely zero exceptions are made for late entries. We have a limited number of Lululemon mats to share. Please bring your own if possible.
CAN DROP-INS ATTEND YOGA AND SPECIALTY WORKSHOPS?
Yes. They will be billed and treated as any other class.
DO YOU HAVE SHOWERS?
Yes. We supply hand/sweat towels, so if you plan to shower after a class, please bring a bath towel.
IS THERE PARKING?
Yes. There is plenty of street parking and garage parking around the DuPont area. Please read all signs carefully before parking.
WHAT IS YOUR LATE POLICY?
If you arrive late, we understand. Simply join the class without disrupting the flow. If you miss the instruction portion of class, you are accountable for acquiring directions/instructions once the coach is done getting the class started. If you are more than 15 minutes late, please adjust your schedule and plan to attend the next class.
ARE ALL OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS UNLIMITED CLASS ATTENDANCE?
Yes. We offer a complimentary program that allows for daily attendance therefore we encourage increased attendance. Else wise, the body cannot adopt proper-regimented physiological structure. Physiological advancements occur progressively with daily attendance and decrease the probability for plateaus and diminishing returns.
